The Atelier do Olfato .Nome was born from the founders, Bernardo Nunes and Raquel de Oliveira, deep-rooted love for memories, well-being, nostalgia, and the profound impact of a captivating scent. This passion for aromas and the memories they evoke ignited an unyielding journey. From recreating scents that harkened back to the past to crafting fragrances reminiscent of that extraordinary drink they savored in Cape Verde, they believed no memory should remain unexplored.
Grounded in the scientific understanding that scent is the most potent trigger of memory, Bernardo and Raquel began their candle-making journey as a hobby in their Setúbal apartment. Their goal was to encapsulate the essence of places, moments, and experiences they encountered through fragrance. In their exploration, they uncovered the pervasive toxicity and unethical practices within the candle industry.
Specifically, they discovered that most candle brands use paraffin, a petroleum byproduct found as a black sludge at the bottom of oil barrels. This wax is bleached using 10 times the concentration of our household bleach. When burned, paraffin releases carcinogenic chemicals and toxins into our homes, posing significant health risks. Bernardo and Raquel knew there had to be a better way to enjoy candles and life. So, they set out to create a product that would promote a cleaner planet and a healthier lifestyle without sacrificing price, scent, or experience.
After extensive research, the initial production of Atelier do Olfato .NOME candles utilized clean-burning coconut wax and sustainably sourced essential oil-infused fragrances to support their mission of creating cleaner candles for a cleaner planet. Today, Atelier do Olfato .NOME crafts olfactory experiences through their transportive fragrances that capture Bernardo and Raquel's cultivated passion for memories and a clean, non-toxic lifestyle.

Our shipping boxes are made from recycled corrugated cardboard and our shipping materials are 100% recycled. Made with beautiful hand-blown glass, try to reuse our containers or compost packaging when you can.
