  • Avoid Drafts: Keep your candle away from air currents for a more consistent flame.
  • Take Breaks: Let your candle cool for 2 hours between burns to prolong its life.
  • Store Properly: Keep your candle in a cool, dark place and use its original box for protection.
  • Extinguish Safely: Stop burning when there's less than 5mm of wax left and use a snuffer or lid.
Guide to Burning Your Candle Properly

Dedicated flame enthusiasts may already know this, but to ensure your candle burns evenly, you should follow these three fundamental candle principles: trim, center, and wait.

Trim the wick (IMAGE)

Want to get the most out of your handmade candle? Trim the wick before each use! ✂️ The ideal length is between 0.5cm and 1cm. This ensures a cleaner and safer burn. ️  Use a wick trimmer or small scissors. Oh, and don't worry, we've already trimmed the wick before shipping, but it's important to keep up with this care to enjoy your candle longer.

Center your wick (IMAGE)

Ensuring your wick is centered will allow for a smooth fragrance throw. You can quickly do this before each burn by gently guiding the wick back into place towards the center of the candle. Keeping your candle wick centered ensures your candle will burn evenly and won't burn more on one side. This is important because if your wick gets too long or out of place, it can cause the glass to heat up too quickly on one side and crack.

Relax and wait until your candle has melted completely (IMAGE)

This is the most critical step. The first time you burn your candle, make sure to wait at least 3-4 hours or until the pool of wax liquefies to the edge of your container. Once the wax pool is completely melted at the top, you can extinguish the candle. Why is this step so important? Because if you extinguish a candle too quickly, the wax has a 'memory' and will stay in that position throughout its entire burn. Strange, isn't it? Once your candle has this memory ring, it will continue to tunnel down for the entire life of the candle. A good rule of thumb is to be patient and enjoy your candle without rushing.

Do not burn near children, pets, or flammable materials (IMAGE)

It is important to never leave an open flame unattended around children or pets, as they risk burns or other accidents. Burn your candles on a non-flammable surface where they are in plain sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended. It helps to keep it away from drafts so the flame doesn't risk spreading and helps it burn more evenly.

Storing your candle

As you've purchased a beautiful, clean-burning candle made with all-natural waxes, free of dyes and additives, our candles may be a bit sensitive. Temperature and light can affect the appearance of candles due to the natural wax and fragrance oils. Be sure to store it in a cool, dry place, away from any direct sunlight. A cupboard is perfect or in a dark room or closet. It's always best to keep the candle in its original box and with the dust cover to protect it from discoloration, fading, and dust accumulation.

Know when to say goodbye and stop before it burns out

We know that our scents, inspired by memories and experiences, can transport you to dream vacations, relive family moments or even venture into a meditation practice, but after a few hours you'll need to come back to reality. We recommend not burning your candle for more than 4-5 hours. You can extinguish your candle simply by using a snuffer, with the lid of your candle or by blowing it out. Wait another 2 hours before relighting, as this will give the wax time to cool and prolong its burn time.

Stop burning when there is less than 5mm of wax left in the glass

As most of the wax is consumed, the flame will heat the container, leaving the bottom of the container hot. To avoid potential heat damage to your container and surface, discontinue burning when there is less than ¼” of your candle remaining. When you’re finished using your candle, check out our guide to repurposing your candle container. If you’re having trouble removing the remaining wax, you can also consult our instructions on ways to remove candle wax.

By following these guidelines, you'll enjoy your candles to the fullest and ensure they burn beautifully every time.
